McDonald's playground

We've been having a tough time with nap lately.  We thought we'd try to go to McDonald's for lunch as a reward for her potty progress and to wear her out before nap.
It had been a few weeks since we'd been and we were able to see how much she has grown with the ease she was able to climb UP the steps.  The problem came when she's still not quite tall enough to realize how to get DOWN the steps.  After about 10 minutes trying different ways to get her down from the tippy-top step & the tears starting, I had to climb up there.  This was quite embarrassing for me as the other parents watched, but I didn't see any other way to go.   (side note: Now that I have a toddler, it takes a LOT for me to judge other mothers and what they do....I hope the same is true for other mother's and their lack of judgment in the things I do.  Kids are kids and they're tough to deal with sometimes.  Let's just remember that and understand that we're all doing the best we can.)
She got to a level where she could maintain playing in the tunnels, so we let her play for about 20 minutes.
Ok, time to go and we tried to convince her that if she went down the slide she wouldn't have to maneuver all the steps down. Another 10 minutes pass, I'm not happy and climbing up into the play area again to retrieve her.
Much crying on the way to the car as she repeated "I want to go down the slide."  In frustration I said "You had many chances to go down the ding dang slide!"  Then the crying turned into "I want to go down the ding dong slide..."   Quite thankful for the one vowel change.  All I could do was laugh...and remind myself to watch what I say as she is repeating more and more.

Feed the dog

While at the library today, we were playing a game called "Feed the Dog."  It's to improve fine motor skills.  Kids have to use tweezers to pick up bones and put it in a circle that looks like a dog's mouth.  She was calling this dog Jaxson.  This is the name of her cousin's dog and therefore...all dogs. :o)
She was doing a good job putting in the bones and said "Good doggy, Jaxson.  You're a good eater!"

Molly-isms

Some funny things Molly has said / done lately:

- Goes in her room and says she's running errands

- Took her stroller and baby doll to the grocery store and pushed her through; waved and said hello to everyone.

 - In the potty training process while out in public announcing to everyone "I went pee pee in the potty."  (This is normal, right?)

- Given her baby doll a father - Daddy Harry (Harry is her favorite 1 Direction boy)....uh-oh.  Daddy Harry goes to work and comes home shortly after Andrew does.

- When we come to a commercial break of any TV show she looks at us, makes the surprise face, and asks "What's gonna happen?!?"

Being silly

Today after Molly's nap she and I were snuggling in bed.  We were giving each other tickles and being silly.  She told me I was being silly and I told her she was being silly too.  She got an upset look on her face and here is the following conversation:

Molly:  No!  Only you are silly.
Me: The best thing about being silly is being silly with someone else.
Molly: No, you can't be silly with peoples.
Me:  You're silly right now by tickling me.
Molly:  You're silly with your friends, and daddy silly with his friends
Me: Are you silly with your friends at school?
Molly: Yeah
Me: How are you silly?
Molly:  We jump and sing.  (Proceeds to tickle me again.)

Okey dokey?

The other day I asked Molly to do something for me and she responded with a hearty "honkey donkey!"
I'm pretty sure that's her equivalent to okey dokey.

Beware of Pirates

Sometimes during dinner, we will watch the nightly news.  Tonight, as it has been most nights this week the top story was about the flu.
They went to their "on the story" reporter who spoke about how the "virus had killed some & is affecting many more."
Molly got big eyed and said "Oh no!  The pirates!!"  It took us a minute to figure out that she heard pirates instead of virus.
