Cherries

Molly and I went to the Spokane Farmer's Market this morning.  We came home with some cherries, strawberries, honey, flowers, and a cookie.  Yum!
I'm not a fan of cherries, so when she dived right into the bag and ate one I quickly realized there was a pit in there that didn't make it out.  So, I pitted a few more cherries for her as we continued our shopping.  In the car on the way home she wanted another one.  Here's our conversation.
Molly: "I want my cherries!"
me:  "I can't get it for you right now.  I'm driving."
Molly:  "Stoooooop!"
me:  "I can't, I'm in the middle of the road.  If I stop, we'll get honked at and maybe hit by another car."
Molly:  "Oh, well we can put a band-aid on the car so it won't get hurt."
me: "Every time you say something that cute, it makes me love you more.  Maybe I can pit them at red lights if we come to any."

She then proceeded to yell at every green light we went through and cheered at the red lights.  Because it meant that she got two cherries on the way home.

All those cherries gave her the dancing bug.  There was live music to enjoy, too.  The guy singing said "What a beautiful day for dancing!" To which I say "Aren't all days good for dancing?" What a fun morning!

Silly goose

We took a weekend trip up to Cranbrook, British Columbia this weekend.  We love Canada, and have really enjoyed living so close.  We can be up there in about 2 hours.  Cranbrook is a little farther than that, so we stayed in a hotel Saturday night.
While brushing teeth Sunday morning, Molly tried to open the packaging on a new cup from nearby the sink.  When I told her we already had one from last night, and we should just use that one instead of being wasteful, she replied "Alriiiiiiight,  you silly goose."

You tired?

Molly has started answering our phone (yes, we still have a land-line).  This morning, Aunt Courtney called and Molly was busy playing so the conversations were short.  Conversations because Molly kept hanging up, and then it would ring again & Courtney was still there.  One time she wasn't and got upset.  So we called back and here's the conversation
Molly: "Are you tired?"
Courtney: "No, I'm not tired."
Molly: "You tired from all that hanging up?"
Courtney:  "Oh, yeah."

Dance class

This afternoon after telling Molly I was heading to dance class she replied, "Drop it like a princess, mama."

Wha..??!!

She's not picky

We have a favorite frozen yogurt place here in Spokane - Didiers.  They have a deal on Tuesdays... $1.79 for a medium dish.
Last week we decided to take advantage.  Their flavors change every day, so I called to give Andrew the list of what they had.  After getting Andrew's order, Molly wanted to talk to me.  She came on the phone and said "Mommy, I want flavor.  Get me flavor please."  That's one thing I can guarantee...your frozen yogurt will have some type of flavor, M.  We ended up splitting strawberry/banana...with chocolate chips.  Yum!

Trip to the Dentist & follow-up conversations

Molly had her first visit to the dentist.  All three of us had appointments for the same time, so I helped get her set up in her room, and then went on to get my teeth cleaned.
First of all, she did SOO good!  (We had tried to have her go last summer and it was NOT a positive experience.)  She hopped right up in the chair, talked to the hygienist, and was very excited to see that there was TV in the ceiling!  They only had adult sized headphones and glasses, but she put them right on and let them go to work.  I tried to listen from the next room, but couldn't hear much which is better than hearing screaming or crying!   She even got a bracelet and a purple toothbrush like she was hoping for.  Definitely a great visit!

A few fun conversations that we had later today that I thought were pretty cute:

Leading up to the visit, we talked a lot about how the dentist was going to look at her teeth and she would practice opening her mouth really wide.  While brushing her teeth, she always makes sure to give her tongue a good brush.  While going down for her nap, she looked at me and said "Oh nooooo!"  When I asked what was wrong she said, "The dentist forgot to look at my tongue!"  She was so worried, but seemed to calm down when I showed her that when you show your teeth, you also get a good look at the tongue.  The dentist did check her tongue and it looks good, too.

(Through conversation with our dentist, it came up that he had kids too.)  Here's the conversation that we had while she was going to sleep that night.

Molly:  Where's the dentist?
Susan:  Well, he's probably putting his kids to sleep, too.
M:  Oh, did he take off his dentist clothes?  And put on his daddy clothes?
S:  Yeah, he probably did that.
M:  And the girl (hygienist) putting her kids to bed, too?  She took off her dentist clothes and put on her mommy clothes?
S:  Yes, Molly.  Goodnight.
M:  Goodnight, mom.

Birthday gifts

A couple weeks ago, we went shopping with Molly to Toys R Us.  We took her birthday money and found some great toys for her to add to her collection.
While we were shopping, we were looking in the clothes area for panties.  She noticed some Spiderman underwear for boys.  She picked them up, threw them in the cart, and said "Tommy will like these...for his birthday."
While we appreciate the idea of giving, we quietly snuck them out of the cart.  I hope it's many years before Molly does any shopping for undergarments for boys!
