Trip to the Dentist & follow-up conversations

Molly had her first visit to the dentist.  All three of us had appointments for the same time, so I helped get her set up in her room, and then went on to get my teeth cleaned.
First of all, she did SOO good!  (We had tried to have her go last summer and it was NOT a positive experience.)  She hopped right up in the chair, talked to the hygienist, and was very excited to see that there was TV in the ceiling!  They only had adult sized headphones and glasses, but she put them right on and let them go to work.  I tried to listen from the next room, but couldn't hear much which is better than hearing screaming or crying!   She even got a bracelet and a purple toothbrush like she was hoping for.  Definitely a great visit!

A few fun conversations that we had later today that I thought were pretty cute:

Leading up to the visit, we talked a lot about how the dentist was going to look at her teeth and she would practice opening her mouth really wide.  While brushing her teeth, she always makes sure to give her tongue a good brush.  While going down for her nap, she looked at me and said "Oh nooooo!"  When I asked what was wrong she said, "The dentist forgot to look at my tongue!"  She was so worried, but seemed to calm down when I showed her that when you show your teeth, you also get a good look at the tongue.  The dentist did check her tongue and it looks good, too.

(Through conversation with our dentist, it came up that he had kids too.)  Here's the conversation that we had while she was going to sleep that night.

Molly:  Where's the dentist?
Susan:  Well, he's probably putting his kids to sleep, too.
M:  Oh, did he take off his dentist clothes?  And put on his daddy clothes?
S:  Yeah, he probably did that.
M:  And the girl (hygienist) putting her kids to bed, too?  She took off her dentist clothes and put on her mommy clothes?
S:  Yes, Molly.  Goodnight.
M:  Goodnight, mom.
